Evening,

I'm finally ready to make the move from FreeNAS to Amahi over the weekend.

Tonight I'll be extracting the data from my existing ZFS array and dropping it onto a couple of spare 2TB drive I have. Then I'll go ahead with the installation tomorrow. I was thinking that the below config would make sense, just wanted to run it by you guys to check it did make sense...

4 x 2TB drives in Greyhole pool
1 x 250GB drive, partitioned as 10, 40, 200GB - 10 for swap, 40 for OS/Root etc and 200 for LZ.

Any benefits to doing this another way?

That sounds like a good layout.
Keeping the OS on a separate drive is always good.

By keeping the OS on a separate drive, do we have an easy way to move the home directory from the OS drive to the data drive?

Assuming you aren't putting /home in the greyhole pool (which would not be a good idea, I think), you can tell the system to put /home in a partition on any drive.
It has been a while since I installed Fedora, so I don't remember the details of installation. But, you should be able to select custom partitioning during the install and create the /home partition on a different drive. I always customize my installations, but I've never tried setting up partitions on a second drive during installation. See how it works for you.

Do you expect to use your hda as a desktop workstation or just as a server? If it will just be a server, you really don't need much space for /home.
