Multiple embedded same name folders

Postby SebaD » Tue Jul 26, 2011 9:15 am

I am finding a lot of nested folders with the same names.
For instance: //HDA/Movies/Movie1/Movie1/
Both "Movie1" and "Movie1/Movie1" have similar content but not always 100% the same...

For the time being I'm doing a content comparison from a second computer to make sure I'm not loosing anything by removal.

Any suggestion on how did it happen, how to prevent, how to fix it globally?

What do you see if you look at the actual landing zone on your server? Are they symlinking to different files or the same files?

Different symlinks towards different files.

I'm skeptical that Greyhole is creating these files. It seems more likely that something wrote the files that way and Greyhole is just reflecting what was written to the share. What makes you think otherwise? Something in the Greyhole logs?

Honestly I don't know what created them and for sure I didn't do it on purpose...

Anyway, having to choose between loosing something or getting a duplicate I'm happy with the last one.

Thanks lrevxl for all the help.
Cheers.

I had a problem with a folder called "Breaking Bad"

I had to similar folders in the same share, but there was some differerence with the "Caps", like "Breaking bad" and "Breaking Bad". I had a lot of errors, and sometimes could get access to both folders, with different files in them, but eventually i just erased them yesterday, when i figured i did not want to spend time on it. But maybe others have the same problem, so i am telling you i had one.
