Hi,
I've moved a whole bunch of files down one directory from
/sharename/files/ to /sharename/newdir/files.
I did this from my Mac Finder.
Since then, the greyhole.log file is growing to about 5-6 GB each day before its compressed.
Looking at the logs each day it show the same thing:
May 22 03:34:04 7 rename: Loading tombstones for (dir) win/apps/Xilisoft
May 22 03:34:04 7 rename: Loading tombstones for win/apps/Xilisoft/Converter.rar... Got 2 tombstones.
May 22 03:34:04 7 rename: Loading tombstones for (dir) win/apps/Xilisoft/Converter....
May 22 03:34:04 7 rename: Loading tombstones for win/apps/Xilisoft/Converter/setup.exe... Got 2 tombstones.
and so on and on, (each day the same)
In the meantime nothing in the LZ is being moved.
How can I stop greyhole from trying to do the same thing over and over and over and fix this behaviour.
uname -r; rpm -q samba hda-greyhole
2.6.35.12-90.fc14.x86_64

Re: Greyhole trying to rename tombstones over and over - stu
This was a nasty bug that was fixed in Greyhole 0.9.6+, you can see the issue on the Greyhole project page https://github.com/gboudreau/Greyhole/issues/12
It isn't infinite, but it is exponential, if you leave it long enough the renames should eventually finish, but it'll call the same renames many, many times, the higher up in a folder hierarchy, the worse you get hit by the bug. If you're interested there's a bit more on it on the original google code ticket: http://code.google.com/p/greyhole/issues/detail?id=68

Re: Greyhole trying to rename tombstones over and over - stu
You could uninstall the old version or force install the new version, but since you're on Amahi I don't think it's recommended (see http://forums.amahi.org/viewtopic.php?f ... 96a1cfd292) I only work with Greyhole, I don't use or know about Amahi, so I'm not much help there.

See here how to manually install the latest hda-greyhole RPM:
