I can see all my hd in the storage and shares on the control panel, but I can not check the box to put them in my pool. I can check the box on the root drive, but none of the other 3 drives. Not sure if I missed a step or what, any help would be great, i think this is the last thing I need to get everything the way i want it..

Why can't you select the other drives?
Do they not appear in the Storage Pool page, or are the checkbox absent for them, or is it that when you select the checkboxes, it goes back to un-selected by itself, or ..?
Also, the output of those commands could help:
