Im a little bit confused. Actually i have a 160GB OS disk and a 1TB for my shares. But when i begin to fill my HDA up the data is only stored on the 160GB disk. after that i have to wait until greyhole have moved the data to the 1TB drive.

This cant be true...Its unusable!!!!

For Greyhole, in the Dashboard, i have only checked the 1TB drive for the storage pool. And all shares i have filled up are checked for use in the pool.
But when i fill them up nothing comes to the 1TB drive. And when the 160GB drive is full i got an error on client that the Drive is full. But my 1TB drive is empty...

Please help me!!!!

Update :
Ok, i think i have found one reason for my problem. I transfered too much data. So Greyhole was not able to sort everything in the storage pool. But this could not be right. What if i only use a 8GB USB stick? The i only have to transfer 4GB or so and than nothing works. This is what happend. when my main drive is full ill get an error that ruby wont work and than nothing happens. I have to delete data befor greyhole works again.

My OS drive is empty now. Ive moved everything in small peaces because nobody can help me.
After that i wait 10 seconds and after greyhole have moved everything to my other drive i have copied the next parts. That took me 6 hours for 160GB.
That is everything, but not easy...

But thats not all. I have noticed an other wonderfull feature of greyhole. My transferspeed between the Harddrives is under 10MB/s and nearly the half of that when i try to copy things to my Amahi Server.

common people, this cant be right. I cant believe that nobody can help me and everybody lives with a network bandwith (on GB Lan) under 10MB/s.
Befor my problem began i had a transfer rate over 35MB/s. Thats also not really much but it was a beginning.

P.S.: If i know how to unmount my data drive savely from Greyhole, install Amahi and Fedora new and mount my data drive again in the fresh greyhole (without loosing data) i would do it. But i found nothing in the wiki. And nobody answered here...so i dont know what to do...

We're busy working on app testing, Fedora 14 release and a ton more things.

Greyhole has a landing area. I don't know why your disk to disk transfer is so slow. That part seems odd (and unrelated to Amahi).

Is it SATA? IDE? how good is the IO chipset? ... we can't guess without much info.

As far as networking, I get ~11.5MB/s for a compressed file, on a GB LAN setup (OK, with some suboptimal cable). Depending on the content, i'd say 10MB/s is fairly normal.

With compressible files, 35MB/s would be reasonable.

i know u have much to do. And i had a very good system (because of the really good work of the Amahi team) until this problem occurred.
After my "landing area" was full my network transfer never rises up again. although ive cleaned the "landing area".

Before i had this problem my network and disk to disk transfer were really high. But now its never over 10MB/s

But anyway, to save ur time and make it short :

1. How can i install Amahi and Fedora new (on the 160GB disk) without loosing Data on my 1TB drive. (after new installation ill use it again in my shares as it is. Cant copy all again)

2. How can i change the "landing area"? If i would use a smaller OS drive (i.e. a 8GB USB drive) i am not able to copy more than 3 or 4 GB in one peace. But i dont want to copy 3GB and wait 1min and copy and wait ... ...

So ill try a new installation and hope that it works again and u dont need spend much time on logs or somethings like that

The greyhole wiki area has information on copying data into Greyhole managed shares the first time. Does that help?

Advanced options for GH can be specified (very very carefully!) in this file:
If you break the format, updating Greyhole settings will not work. Save the original!

The Greyhole advanced options seem to have some tips about advanced options.

so, ive tried something out, but i have to make the following conlusion :

If i have a "Landing zone" of i.e. 5GB I WILL NEVER BE ABLE to move more data than 5GB.
Come on, this is absolutely unusable.

Why is it not possible that Greyhole moves the data directly to shares OR the first 10sec. on landing zone and after that it starts to move files from landing zone to shares WHILE im moving files to landing zone?????

Greyhole starts moving files from the landing zone into your pooled drives 10 seconds after the files are done writing.
That means if you write two 1MB files, when the first file is done writing, Greyhole will start moving it into your pooled drives 10 seconds (or less) after it's done. That moving can be concurrent to any other Samba file transfers, since they are two distinct processes (smb handles Samba file transfers, greyhole daemon handles the moving from the landing zone into the pooled drives).

Also, if you'd like a bigger landing zone than the size of your root partition, you just need to move that landing zone to a drive that has more free space. Each share has it's own landing zone, and it's the directory identified as 'Location' in the Amahi Shares page (http://hda/setup?sub=shares&tab=share). Just change it from the default /var/hda/files/something to a new folder you'd create, for example on one of the drives you added in the storage pool (/var/hda/files/drives/drive1/something). You'll want to run "greyhole --fsck" after you moved all your landing zone, to have the files re-appear in your shares (--fsck will re-create the symlinks in your new landing zone directories). Alternatively, you could move all the symlinks from the old LZ dirs to the new ones. Something like: mv /var/hda/files/something/* /var/hda/files/drives/drive1/something/, and repeat for each share. This would fix your shares after you move the LZ, without needing a fsck. But I'd still run a fsck anyway after all this, just to be sure.

You problem seems to be that Greyhole doesn't seem to be moving your files off your landing zone. Let's talk about that in the other thread you opened, and close this one.

Disconnect the 1TB drive, then re-install Amahi.
Once Amahi is re-installed, mount the 1TB drive using hda-diskmount, and share the directories you have on it.
If you decide to go down this path, let me know, I won't waste my time trying to help you debug Greyhole further in that other thread of yours.
