SOLVED: Troubleshooting issue

I've gone through the troubleshooting and git a message that the fsck will start after all pending tasks have been completed. when I typed df -h it still shows my root as being 100% full, is this an issue?

Yes. Root has to have space left for everything to work. You might try removing some files:

How big is your OS drive? You might need to move some files from your shares to another drive temporarily until Greyhole can complete it's run.

UPDATE: Did you also add those lines to each share that is using Greyhole as I mentioned in a previous post?

I've not been able to add them as I can't access my dashboard, I need to somehow get the system up and running fully. I'm accessing it through TightVNC.

It's a 500gb drive, there's only 50gb on the root and 400gb on the home

Therein lies the issue. 50GB is not enough space for the LZ in your case. You might consider moving the LZ to another drive or removing files from the shares.

The home partition is way too large. No need for 400GB in /home when you really need it on the root partition for the LZ and shares. If you don't make more space, the dashboard will be be accessible.

Might consider temporarily disabling Greyhole until this is sorted out.

Might sound like a silly question but is there a way to resize the root taking space away from the home drive or dumping the landing zone onto the home drive?

I'm pretty much a noob with linux.

It may be possible using a utility such as gParted. You would need to download the Live CD ISO, then burn it to a disc and boot the HDA with that CD.

I cannot guarantee it will work, but you can try it. If you don't have a back up of your data, you might want to make one.

You might consider just moving your LZ (see previous post) and see if you can get things working again. Then once that is done, do the resizing. You can always move the LZ back after that or leave it on a separate disk.

I would not recommend moving the LZ to the /home drive, but I suppose it's doable.

Had a play around with the system today and decided that it was best to go for a fresh install. After the pointer from Bigfoot about the lvm my root is now about 450gb so should be fine for my needs.

Install went ok apart from a few minor problems down to operator error but server is now back up and running and is probably a lot more stable than before.
