Still cannot change permission under my 1st amin so I would try to do land zone moving on another internal partition instead of external hard drive.

What are you trying to do? What command did you use?

Re: Greyhole not distribute files
Initially I was trying to migrate landing zone from root partition to external hard drive. But I found so many limits that I can't even change ownership there. So I used symbolic link but looks like it's not functional. Now I want to try to move landing zone to another internal partition.
Re: Greyhole not distribute files
Ok. Not sure I understand why you had difficulty changing ownership. Should not matter what drive or partition. Maybe you did not use the correct syntax. I presume you did it as root, not sudo.

Re: Greyhole not distribute files
bigfoot - You probably just reminded me of the syntax. I was using
I thought this would take me to right root user. If this is incorrect what's the right syntax?sudo su -
Re: Greyhole not distribute files
The correct syntax is:
Then enter the root password.
I suppose you could use this syntax as well, but I always use the former with Fedora.
UPDATE: I read where using sudo su - does not provide a clean root environment as su - does. Not sure how true this is, but I have always used su -.
Code: Select all
su -

Re: Greyhole not distribute files
I remember I asked a similar question. Then I tried su - but always get this warning:
but sudo is working.Authentication Failure
Re: Greyhole not distribute files
That means you didn't set a root password when you installed Fedora.
Are you getting an error when you try to change permissions?
