BTW, do you think it is safe to update to Amahi 16 now?
No, it is not stable. There are things still some things not working correctly.
If I do this, do I just enable the Amahi 16 repo and do a yum upgrade ?
No, there may not be an upgrade path. It may require a fresh install due to how different Fedora 14 and 16 are currently. We are still not sure yet though.

We will announce when it is stable for users to upgrade. Not sure when, hopefully by the end of this month.

That'd be nice, having my file server running a no-longer-supported OS isn't very nice (especially when that means no more updates!). :(

That is true, however we are doing the best we can. Please understand that with a small all volunteer team, it takes time. We have also run into some unforeseen issues with Fedora 16 that are taking longer to resolve.

Ever since I updated Greyhole top the latest version, I periodically have to reinstall it to get samba to work properly. In the wiki, it suggests this might be a one-time event. Looking at the greyhole site, it appears a new version just came out today. Sure enough when I woke up today, my samba shares weren't visible. A reinstall fixed it.

Is there any long-term fix for this short of reinstalling greyhole every time an update is pushed? I know you're working on F16 so maybe this isn't a priority, I get that. As a relatively novice linux user though, I don't know if there's some relatively simple fix I can do on my end to either prevent this, or alternatively, run a command (the reinstall command) every time greyhole updates.

Thanks in advance!

I presume you added the Greyhole repo. Amahi does not do that so this will not be an issue with Fedora 16. You accept the risk when upgrading Greyhole on your own as we test the versions integrated automatically with Amahi.

Recommend you ask the Greyhole author about your issue. It could be something that he can recommend be done to prevent future issues.

I am sure there is a simple procedure to correct. We will have to look at this for Amahi if we update Greyhole in future Amahi versions. Please file a feature request to auto update Greyhole via Amahi in the Amahi bug tracker.

Actually it would appear I don't have permission to do that... I'm on the bug tracker site and can't see a command to submit a new issue.

Once you sign in, select Projects. You will then see a list of choices, including Greyhole.

Why don't you report the bug to the maintainer of the package you installed? :?:

The greyhole.net hda-greyhole is maintained by the greyhole developer.

If you file a bug report on the greyhole.net site, I am sure he will fix this issue quickly, as he always does.
