Okay! I manually copied everything into /var/hda/files/drives/drive2/movies and ran and --fsck. I can see all my files now, so that's awesome.

I have a couple more issues though.

1. I don't have the permission to delete all the junk that's left over in /var/hda/files/drives/drive1/movies
2. It seems as though there's a bunch of invisible stuff on drive2. It's showing in amahi as 394gb used, when the only thing I can seem to find on the drive is about 36gb of copied files (one share is set to copy). It looks like there is a folder in /var/hda/files/drives/drive2 called lost+found. When i try to browse into it, I get a message saying I don't even have permission to view the contents. That's the only place on the drive I haven't looked for more stuff, so I'm thinking the stuff is in there. When I check the properties of the drive, it shows 36gb in use and says some contents are unreadable... so that seems to support the theory that there is about 350gb of data in that folder that I can't seem to get at. Any thoughts on this?

Thanks!

1. Login as root to delete the folders.

2. The space is most probably used by the Greyhole attic. You can check how much space the attic use, per drive, with:

Code: Select all

greyhole --stats
If you're sure you've got all your files on the share, empty the attic from the command line:

Code: Select all

greyhole --empty-attic

Thank you very much for all the help gboudreau! It looks like I've finally got all my files recovered and my disk space back!

Unfortunately, I must revive this thread as I seem to have messed things up, again :(

Somehow, all the links in my movies share have been killed off.

Looking at file logs, it seems like greyhole stopped detecting drive1 for some reason while it was doing an --fsck. I'm not sure how exactly that happened... but it seems like it killed my links.

The drive is back now, just missing pretty much the entire contents. The new stuff that I ran the --fsck to file is mostly there, but everything else is not.

Is there any easy way to fix this issue? It's all contained on one drive, so if I can just have greyhole scan the contents and repair the links, that would be awesome.

It occurs to me that this may be caused by the drive being a WD Green 2tb drive. I know the drive has some power saving feature that causes it to spin down and stuff when it's not being used... could this have caused it?

The drive being a green model won't cause any problems. Half my drives are like that.

You just need to manually launch a "greyhole --fsck" from the command line to get back the links.
It will find the files that are on your drive for which there is no symlinks, and will re-create them.

Strange... I ran an --fsck and it didn't help... but when I got home from work everything was back to normal.

Oh well. Thanks again.
