Check /var/log/greyhole.log while you delete the file.
Use http://paste.amahi.org to paste everything that appears during a delete.

Re: Managing files/directories in storage pools
Hi, posted the log as requested. No mention of the file at all. I'm deleting from the default Movies share that I have set up to use the storage pools. No extra copies are being made.
Re: Managing files/directories in storage pools
I can't see your paste. You need to give me the URL you got when you pasted. Pastes are not browsable.
If greyhole.log says nothing about your file when it re-appears, it probably not greyhole that re-creates it.
You can confirm by going in Setup > Settings > Servers on your Amahi Dashboard (or directly at http://hda/setup?sub=servers&tab=setting), and disabling the Watchdog option of Greyhole, then stopping the service.
Then try to delete the file. If it re-appears, the problem is with Samba / permissions, not Greyhole.
If you need further help: http://forums.amahi.org/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=1989
(The --debug command you execute, at point 7, should be for a file you tried to delete.)
Also, a ls -la of the directory hosting the file you're trying to delete might help. (or similar)

Re: Managing files/directories in storage pools
Hi, still no luck. Stopped the Greyhole service and Watchdog service. File still reappears. Changed all Directories and Files and sybolic links to a non root user and to the group users-file still re-appears.Started Greyhole again and checked log files; still no mention of the file I'm trying to delete.
Any other ideas?

Re: Managing files/directories in storage pools
Code: Select all
rpm -q samba
It would probably have revealed that you're running version 3.4.2 or earlier, which has a know issue that prevent you from deleting symlinks (which is what Greyhole uses).
You need to update your samba:
Code: Select all
yum -y update samba

Re: Managing files/directories in storage pools
I'm having the same issues with files deleted from shares popping right back up when refreshing the screen with an F5... I've tried to update samba per this thread and I'm unable to.... i'm at 3.4.2-47.fc12.i686.. is that where I should be? yum -y update samba says "no packages marked for update"... ?

Re: Managing files/directories in storage pools
You have an issue with yum. samba 3.4.2 is too old for Greyhole, and fc12 repositories should contain an update.
Maybe you disabled the default f12 repositories somehow.
Open a new thread about that in the appropriate forum.
