Managing files/directories in storage pools

Postby pcpaulh » Thu Dec 30, 2010 12:26 pm

Hi all, just started using the Amahi server and Greyhole- what a great product. Can someone tell me how to go about deleting files from shares in the Greyhole storage pools please?
Ideally I'd like to be able to do it from the Finder app in my Mac clients or from Windows clients ie browse shares and delete unwanted files but from what I have read this is dangerous?
Thanks for any help (I'm no Linux expert either!!).

Regards

To the contrary, adding and removing data should be done through the shares not on the server itself. So go ahead and delete it from finder or explorer.

Hi, thanks for the quick response. I've tried deleting files from the shares but they reappear a couple of seconds later! I connect to the shares with the same credentials as I use to connect to the web interface. Could this be a permission problem?
Thank you in advance.

That's curious. Have you read the greyhole wiki? http://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Greyhole Also, have you switched your server to you the mysql version of greyhole. I don't know if it can cause your issue, but it will perform better.

It looks like this may be a bug that has been fixed in a later version of the one running on the current build of Amahi:
Issue 41: Files deleted during fsck might re-appear.
Is it possible to update to the latest version 0.8.1-1 and if so how do I go about doing it?
Thanks in advance.

Code: Select all

rpm -Uvh http://www.greyhole.net/releases/hda-greyhole-0.8.3-1.`uname -i`.rpm

Hi, thanks. Upgraded to the latest version-problem still remains. I delete a file from the storage pool and within a second the file re-appears! Same from a Windows and Mac client.
Anyone any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Did you reboot after updating ?
That might help.
