I really wanted to install MythTv as a frontend to my exisitng MythTV install. All attempts failed even renaming the install. Finally to get a successful install I installed over my exisitng installation. WOW this is nice.

The only issue is I would really like to run it as a frontend connected to my existing backend.

that part you have to configure yourself, because it's a front end, not really suitable for web application.
do you have a monitor/tv connected to your hda, i assume?
