what kind of problems?
software not downloading virus .dat files?
software not installing properly?
software not updating properly?
software not working as expected?
software not scanning as per schedule?

gimme some hints and I'll install and try to follow what's going on.

sounds like "update-menus" (that's what it's called in Debian with XFCE, not sure on Fedora) isn't called at the end of the install script. can you confirm/deny this?
