It's been about 9 days since the last activity here - How's the release looking?

@rjwaldren: On the facebook page the latest note says "Step on up! Amahi! Amahi 6 release is at T minus 3 days and counting! Greyhole now defaults to MySQL, it’s a 10X performance improvement!"
Re: Amahi 6 Beta, for your testing pleasure!
Cool, the only problems that have hit me are due to my use case - no DNS/DHCP, so I figured it was soon. Forum/Blog/Homepage/Wiki/Facebook/IRC/tracker - too many places to look for updates!

Re: Amahi 6 Beta, for your testing pleasure!
When I attempt to add the Amahi repository, I receive the "Unable to read package" error.
I'm attempting to install Amahi from http://f14.amahi.org repository by using the Fedora 14 DVD as indicated here: http://www.amahi.org/support/instructions
I've double-checked and I am correctly entering the information. I have searched for a solution and found several, including using CTRL+ALT+F2 and attempting to ping f14.amahi.org. It responds successfully from IP 140.211.167.232 (amahi.osuosl.org). I am also able to ping my gateway (192.168.1.254) and Google.com successfully. Eth0 is up and working correctly.
I have also tried using the express install CD available here: http://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Express_CD
However, when I enter my install code it says that my install code is invalid. The installer says "Please wait..." and counts down from 5 seconds.
I checked and confirmed that the MD5 hash of both .ISO files, the Fedora DVD and Amahi Express CD, are correct.
Fedora 14 i386 DVD (obtained from the Fedora-14-i386-DVD.torrent, from http://torrent.fedoraproject.org/):
1cc67641506d2f931d669b8d3528dded matches with
1cc67641506d2f931d669b8d3528dded using WinMd5.
Express CD:
d4e5a1101b15cfb10d687b365ec7be62 (Amahi-5.4-Express-2.6-Beta-i386.iso) matches
d4e5a1101b15cfb10d687b365ec7be62 using WinMD5.

Any suggestions? Is the repo down? I assume that it isn't down and that the problem is on my end.

Jason, I too had similar issues when doing my install from scratch, but that was defo to do with the initial setup for the network (my eth0 is dead, so I had to configure and use eth1).Any suggestions? Is the repo down? I assume that it isn't down and that the problem is on my end.

In the end, I had to install without adding the Amahi repo at the install stage, and cpg helped me to get it sorted again after F14 was installed. However, it's best if you can get it all going properly from the first install.
After these first-time issues, for a separate VM install, I tried the procedure word for word from this page:
http://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Fedora_14_install_guide
Follow the screens through. There might be something you missed, and will pick it up from following the above guide??
Hope this helps...

Re: Amahi 6 Beta, for your testing pleasure!
dinomic,
Thanks for the quick reply and excellent guide! I notice that I missed the Editing the Partitions section, right after Choosing an installation type. I don't think that this is related to my repository error, but I definitely missed that nonetheless. I will walk through these steps and report the results here when I am finished.
Thank you!

hendrixelectric, you're right, the disk stuff should make no difference. On my main install, I didn't do this, as the base drive is a small SSD dedicated to the OS, so I'm not bothered about how that's partitioned for other usage. However, on the VM, I followed all recommendations to the letter. But more than anything, by following those screengrabs, you can see if anything doesn't look right or differs during your install.dinomic,

Re: Amahi 6 Beta, for your testing pleasure!
dinomic,
Everything on my installation looks the same as on the screenshots. Good idea, but still no luck. I followed the instructions verbatim until the "Add Repository" section and can't progress any further. You said you added an interface, eth1, right? That worked for you? You don't have to type a length explanation, but just briefly, what did you do?

hendrixelectric, sorry for the late reply...dinomic,

I added eth1 because the motherboard's built-in ethernet connection is screwed, and I had already installed a PCI ethernet card (got it all working with A5/F12, as eth1, so I know it worked!).
So, during the F14 install, I added and set up eth1 when prompted for the network connection. But I must have done something wrong, as it didn't work. So I continued the install without adding the Amahi repo, got the system booting up OK, configured the networking to work properly, and then cpg led me through a few command line entries to install Amahi manually (sadly, I don't remember all the commands I entered, by I recall cleaning up yum, and then setting it to install Amahi). I also had to create a file manually for the repo, but can't remember if I did this before the yum install or not.
Maybe your best bet is to do the same (ie install F14 first, and then install Amahi once you know that the OS install is OK). Go to http://www.amahi.org and log in, and then from your control panel, select "Install Instructions". Click through a couple of times and you should come to here: http://www.amahi.org/instructions/install_fedora
That should give you some more ideas to try.
Hope that helps!
