Last night, I submitted the first beta of an iPhone-friendly modification of the default theme. Desktop users will see the normal default theme.
http://www.amahi.org/apps/touch-theme
I use CSS media queries to trigger the mobile theme, so it will be used on any device with a screen width less than 480, as long as it supports media queries. This should include all Web OS devices and (I believe) every Android OS device, as well as iOS (except iPad - its screen is 1024 wide). It also triggers on iPhone 4, even though it's 960 wide. I added a special rule for it that won't impact other browsers or display sizes.
If you have one of those devices and would like to test, please let me know. I'll get you added ASAP.
There are a few more things I'd like to do still, but this is a (mostly) stable first release. I'm looking forward to making it even better and putting it out for public consumption.
At this time, there's one known bug with AT&T Web OS devices, but that will be fixed tonight.
Mobile web interface: Testers needed!
Re: Mobile web interface: Testers needed!
This is very cool!
We tested it ... there are a few minor things that could use some touch up, but it's a most excellent (and innovative) theme!

Re: Mobile web interface: Testers needed!
I've updated the theme to fix the WebOS bug. I also corrected the screenshots at cpg's request.
I'm open to any feedback. Let me know how you like it!

Re: Mobile web interface: Testers needed!
I don't have an RPM (cpg told me I didn't need one). You can download version 1 from this link, though. Just unpack the files into your themes directory.
Thanks for testing! If you know how to take them, I'd love to see screenshots from your phone.

Re: Mobile web interface: Testers needed!
That's interesting. That isn't the mobile theme at all. That's just the default, zoomed way out. I'll try to figure out why it isn't really loading the mobile stylesheet. Would you mind installing a new version if I made an update?
Re: Mobile web interface: Testers needed!
nope, not at all
I've checked a few things here and there:
permissions on the themes directory are OK
my phones browser preference is set to mobile view
tried to change the theme (not possible), cleared cache, history etc. on my mobile and tested again.
Android version: 2.2 (Froyo) with default browser

Re: Mobile web interface: Testers needed!
Thanks for the extra details. I'll try to have something for you in the next few days.
Re: Mobile web interface: Testers needed!
wait - can you provide details? his theme installed fine here and we put a bunch of code to make it easy to just put a directory there and get it loaded.tried to change the theme (not possible)
can you see any errors?
maybe take a peek at the production.log immediately after attempting the change?
