Installing Beta Apps doesn't configure web server

Postby pheitman » Sat Feb 06, 2010 8:32 am

I've installed a couple of the beta apps (gparted and clonezilla in particular). The installation appears to succeed without any issues, but when I click on the link (http://gparted.home.com and http://clonezilla.hom.com) it takes me to the Apache Test Page "If you can read this page, it means that the web server installed at this site is working properly, but has not yet been configured."

Any ideas on why the installation did not properly configure apache?

Hello,

There are special instructions for both these apps. They do not work as an app from the web browser, i.e. not apache apps. They are net-boot applications and which allow you to backup a system and resize partitions.

Many apps have special instructions available once you install them. Hope this explains them a bit better. Recommend you uncheck the "list in dashboard" for both. It will be done by default once they are finished.

If you have any more questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks for the reply! I saw the instructions for clonezilla, but didn't even look for the instructions for gparted - I was assuming that this would allow me to manage the partitions on the hda itself. Oh, well.

Note that the quite large http://clonezilla and http://gparted links are very misleading. Even if the "List in dashboard" checkbox is unchecked by default, the link implies that there is a local web app associated with this app. If possible I would suggest that those links be removed also.

We will look into it. Good point and thanks for the feedback.
