Hi Experts,
I'm running Amahi 9 with Fedora 23. Followed the instructions on the IPsec VPN Wiki page and deleted the lines beginning with "split". Now I can remotely VPN in to access my shares, but outbound traffic seems not working at all. I have my HDA configured for DNS. DHCP is handled by my router. Does IPsec need HDA to handle DHCP? I have my mode_cfg listed down here. Please help.
mode_cfg {
auth_source system;
save_passwd on;
network4 10.8.1.1;
netmask4 255.255.255.0;
pool_size 10;
dns4 192.168.18.100;
wins4 192.168.18.100;
default_domain "kickthis.com";
auth_throttle 60;
banner "/etc/racoon/welcome.txt";
}
Thanks,
Terry

Re: IPsec VPN No General Web Traffic
If I recall correctly, the HDA must be the DHCP server in order for IPsec VPN to work.Does IPsec need HDA to handle DHCP?

Re: IPsec VPN No General Web Traffic
Hi bigfoot. Even without DHCP enabled on my HDA, I was able to VPN in and access my shares. If DHCP was required to make IPsec work, what would be the reason that I can actually remote into my HDA? Thanks.
Re: IPsec VPN No General Web Traffic
Your question had to do with outbound traffic. I am no expert here, but was speculating that you needed DHCP on the HDA to make the VPN work as designed.If DHCP was required to make IPsec work, what would be the reason that I can actually remote into my HDA?
It may work partially as is, but not as intended. Have you tried making the HDA the DHCP server, then trying the VPN? Does it make a difference with outbound traffic or not?
Can't say this issue has never come up, so not sure what could be the problem other than the obvious.

Thanks for the reply bigfoot. I'll enable DHCP to give it a try and update the post later.

Re: IPsec VPN No General Web Traffic
I tried enabling DHCP from the dashboard also has DHCP disabled on my router. Sadly, it did not resolve my issue here. Still no outbound traffic when I'm VPNed in. I wonder has anyone actually got IPsec VPN 100% working on the HDA?

What are you using for clients? Did you search these forums for similar issues?
I personally don't use this app, so cannot be of much help. I use OpenVPN as it's simpler to set up and utilize in my opinion.
Have you searched the internet? Sometimes there are solutions there since this is not a unique Amahi application.
If you are in a hurry, you might considered paid support.

Hi Bigfoot. Thanks for your reply. Do you know how to get paid support? There is little information about paid support on the website.

See Commercial Support in the wiki for details.
