Interesting...now when I try to connect from a different network, I get the following error message:

Options error: Unrecognized option or missing parameter(s) in HomeHDA.ovpn:16: tis-auth (2.1_rc15)

Googling this error message didn't readily turn up anything. Thoughts?

You might want to undo the manual changes you made. Then uninstall OpenVPN and reboot.

Install again and try it again. There is a web site you can try to see if port 1194 is blocked on your network.

ISP or a firewall can block it and keep things from working.

I'm sorry, I'm not following you. Which manual changes are you referring to? I'll be happy to do that, but I did connect to the VPN earlier (both the OpenVPN tester and connection from another network were successful) on the same ISP/firewall setup I am using now. That was when I was connecting from and to 192.168.1.x networks. Thanks!

I am confused.

Thought you were unable to connect. So what is the actual issue then?

I am currently unable to connect. But I did successfully connect earlier in the week (same ISP and firewalls) when I first installed OpenVPN. The problem I was having then was that while I was connected, I couldn't access a share. But the connection itself showed successful on the OpenVPN tester and on the client. When I asked about why I could not access the share, you thought it was likely because the network I was connecting from had the same network IP as the network I was connecting to. So I started down the path of changing the network IP for my network. When I did this, the HDA console still showed the old address. I read where you indicated to someone that that might not be a problem. But as I couldn't connect, I ended up completely reinstalling the server thinking that might fix things. Still could not connect. So then I tried doing what you suggested regarding the SSL handshake timeout issue. Now getting the "Options Error" I posted below when I try to connect from another network and "Inactive...enable it" when I use the tester. Thanks for your help and patience.

Ok put things back the way they were when you were able to connect.

How did you try to access the shares when connected using VPN?

The shares troubleshooting wiki page might be helpful.
