IPSec vs. OpenVPN

Just wondering what the pros/cons to IPSec vs OpenVPN are...is there one that is more supported, used, easier, better features, etc.? Please feel free to use the poll as well to show your preference.

I haven't tried yet on Amahi, but on other devices like my Synology Nas OpenVPN choked the connection pretty badly, where as l2tp was much, much better. I'm trying to replace the synology box with the Amahi server in fact, but no luck getting l2tp up yet despite following a tutorial.
