Can't reconnect to HDA

Postby zwadder » Fri Sep 04, 2009 1:20 am

IU have installed HDA vpn connection version 3 (previous I had version 1 and 2), when I want to connect to the HDA everything works fine and I get a connection. When I disconnect (or at the initial login put in a wrong password) I can't get a connection anymore, I have to restart the computer and then everything works fine again.

These are the connector messages:

Are you running Windows 7?

Im sorry to hear you have been ill.

My question was are you running the latest windows version, Windows 7.

I ask this to see if it is a problem with just Windows 7 or if its a problem with the new version of HDA Connect on previous platforms of Windows (ie XP or Vista).

Trying to narrow things down to target the sole problem.

I run Windows at my home computers and everything concerning Amahi is working fine, but I don't use VPN on my home computers. I only connect to the Amahi server on my work computer which has Windows XP on it.The same happens to my girlfriend when she's at work and using her XP machine and uses the VPN connection.

Thanks for that. I have not used the newest version (version 3) on Windows XP yet.

Quick fix though, re-download the version 2 (when you click to download v3 on the wiki, copy that link, place it in the address bar and replace 3 with 2) and install it, I will have the devel of version 3 (tfbox) look into this and update this thread when its fixed.

Also, another thing to do, completely remove HDAConnect from your PC and then reinstall the newest version, might be a quick fix.

We need to work on the "update" part as well.

I would like to know if the previous version of the hdaconnect app works correctly for you still.

uninstall the one you have installed then install this one.

http://dl.amahi.org/HDAConnect2.exe

So far I have not heard about any reports about any issues like this.

I have used all three versions of the connection software with the same result.
Also I had a fresh computer (XP reinstalled) and installed version 2 of the connector software with the same result. It happens also if I make a mistake in the password, the only way then to logon to the network using VPN is to rsetart the computer (tried it also with all three version of the connector software)
Maybe I could reinstall the Amahi software but I'm not sure if I lose the current settings (shares etc)

zwadder: it sounds like the problem may actually be in the openvpn server configuration.

I am not sure if this will help but you could try looking in this file for errors before resorting to a complete reinstall:

/var/log/openvpn-status.log
