ipsec VPN help

Postby garlar4 » Sat Oct 10, 2015 2:47 pm

Ok so i have my amai using IPsec VPN. Works great on seeing all my shared folders in amahi. I leave my connection up for days at a time using my office computer to move files around between the office and my house. The problem i have is i have set up a 2nd ubuntu linux server at the house. When i am home i can move around all my shared folders without incident. how ever when i am connected to my VPN from the office i only see the shared folders on amahi and i can not ping or talk to any other ip addresses on my network. I only did the standard install of IPSec and have not set up the route all traffic threw VPN yet. I tried this when i first set up my VPN and every webpage kept timing out. so i kept the settings set for split traffic.

Thank you
Larry

Have you tried following the IPsec VPN guidance in the wiki? This seems like the only solution to your problem.

Also, IPsec VPN is still in BETA status, so there could be problems with it.

i know i followed the Route all traffic through VPN (Fedora) guidlines and in doing this it made all my outside webpages time out. But any of my web interface on the amahi system ran fine. i ended up changing it back to what is was before due to not being able to go to any outside websites. I was not sure if my issue is the amahi system or router settings, firewall settings.

Could be a router problem.

Not to high-jack this post but do you guys have a rough estimate as to when IPsec will come out of BETA? Just purchased the app.Looking forward to running it when it's stable.

EDIT: Also will the route all traffic thru VPN instructions be the same as Amahi 7 ? Seeing how the page hasn't been updated yet.

No estimate at this time.

As for the guidance in the wiki, honestly don't know if it needs updated. It was contributed by the community. Maybe you can try it and update it if needed.
