Possible use case - Accessing remote host

Postby andyfitter » Mon Mar 16, 2015 2:04 am

Is it possible (With either the OpenVPN or IPSec modules) to access a remote host connected to my LAN, from another device on that LAN?

For example, I have a server in another location, with a VPN tunnel set up into my HDA. Could I access that server from another machine on the same local LAN as the HDA. Im thinking of this for screen sharing - to do remote admin upon that server from my LAN.

If is is possible, what IP address would I use? I understand that both of the VPN options use private internal addresses in the 10.8.x.x range?

Not sure if it's possible.

I would expect you'd VPN in to your HDA and access the IP address that is assigned to the remote device.
