VPN Setup Issue

Postby cpeddie » Mon Apr 07, 2014 10:11 am

Hello,

I am using Tunnelblik on mac to connect to my hda. I took the configuration files generated by the hda-connnect windows app and used them to setup tunnelblik. OpenVPN on the hda is the one-click application. I can connect to my hda fine, but I get this warning everytime:
-----
Warning:
This computer's apparent public IP address was not different after connecting to peddie-hda. It is still 209.234.175.58.

This may mean that your VPN is not configured correctly.
-----

I can ssh into the hda and pull up the dashboard in a browser with no issues, but I don't see any shares in a normal finder window. Is there a setting on the hda I need to change in order to see the shares when I connect via vpn?

Thanks....

The OpenVPN should already be properly configured. Often you have to fully qualify them in order to get access. For example, in Windows it would be \\hda.amahi.net\Docs.

It appears to be an issue within tunnelblick. HDAConnect on windows works fine, but on Mac tunnelblick generates an error when trying to assign the IP address coming back from the hda. I've posted on the tunnelblick forums to see if there is any help there.

I had to change the advanced setting to 'route all traffic through vpn' on tunnelblick. I can now connect to shares using the IP address of the hda.

Awesome.

I have added that to the wiki.
