Version 2 of HDAConnect, the Windows VPN client

Postby cpg » Tue Jun 23, 2009 2:03 am

Hi there,

Hello!

We have a new version of the VPN client for Windows open for testing, courtesy of our long-term contributor and friend Tim (aka tcheng). Here is a link to the installer for your testing pleasure:

http://alpha.amahi.org/HDAConnect2.exe

The following changes are in this test release:
  • Logo updates for the orange Amahi logo
  • Client enhanced to make it clear the nickname is what's required
  • Client remembers the nickname and the user name for even easier use

Thanks to Tim for this new version!

Please discuss any bugs, feature requests and general feedback (including kudos!) here in this thread!

Regards ...

Is there a need to uninstall the last version before upgrading to the new (ie installing 2).

I uninstalled just to be safe, but thats a good thing to put in.

The VPNWindows wiki page has been updated to meet the needs of this new release.

Make sure you upgrade to the new version everyone.

Would this cause problems with a pc running the Cisco VPN client?

No. It should not create issues. I have used it with a PC running the Cisco VPN client. They are two different VPN systems using different protocols, ports, servers, etc. One bring proprietary and the other being open, of course.

Is this client compatible with Windows 7? I am having a lot of trouble with it.

Bug report is here for this issue: http://bugs.amahi.org/issues/show/35

When you uninstall this from the computer using Add/Remove programs from the CP it does not remove everything like it should, all traces of the files are still there and its still running. Really the only thing I saw that it removed was the Internet TAP VEA's.
