Is OpenVPN included or not?

Depending on what documentation I read, I find OpenVPN indicated as included as part of the Amahi package, and moving to a separate app. Now I see the option on my control panel to activate it, but despite forwarding the port, it does not appear to be active. I've found the app in the app store that has a million names, but apparently I have to apply to be a beta tester to use it (like several apps I was interested in... plex, dropbox, etc), or pay to be in a program when I haven't gotten a chance to even try out the basics of Amahi...
Anyway, back to my initial question: is OpenVPN something I get with Amahi, or something I must pay extra for?
I'm a little lost, and a bit frustrated, any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
James

Sorry you are frustrated. We are still working out the kinks with things. Unfortunately our small all volunteer team is overwhelmed at the moment and we are doing our best to catch up.
OpenVPN is not part of Amahi for Ubuntu. You can install it for free, no cost. It is included for Fedora builds and automatically installed.
Moving forward, we have changed what is packaged with Amahi. Not intended to remove features, but streamline things a bit. SSH and VPN are the first two separated from the platform and incorporated as apps.
Yes there are several apps available for Amahi and some are BETA. Those are ones not complete or ready to be LIVE. However, there are more than 75 apps currently live for both Ubuntu and Fedora I do believe.
We display BETA apps so users know what is coming for Amahi. You can also subscribe to Amahi premium plans for a fee which allows access to BETA apps. With that comes the understanding that many BETA apps are incomplete and do not work.
Hope this helps clear things up. We know we need to do better with documentation and publicizing Amahi. Hopefully in the near future we can improve.

I understand, it can't be easy working with a small team on a big project. Thank you for providing the software as it is for free... I apologize if i was a bit ungrateful in my previous post, it was late and I had been fighting my computer all night.
Thanks for your help!

Not a problem. Just wanted to point out the challenges and help users understand why things don't always go smoothly or seem to be worked slowly.
We do need to work on documentation. Hoping to get that going soon and make Amahi better for all.
