hdaconnect network shares, but no internet connection

I'm able to connect to my hda just fine using hdaconnect, but when the connection starts, I lose internet. I believe it's some kind of gateway issue, but is anyone else experiencing this? I'd hate to have to disable/enable the connection each time I needed a file.

I'm on windows xp service pack 3

are you by any chance connecting to your VPN from inside your own network by any chance?

Unfortunately, that's not the case. it did however "kick in" when I connected from a third location, and now works just fine. I'm running into the issue again trying to setup another machine. Any ideas are welcome. I'm troubleshooting away

ok, so here's the solution to MY problem at least. Apparently it was all because my local IP range was the same standard as my remote range. For example, my server was on a 192.168.12.X network and so was my remote connection. I changed the remote connection to a 192.168.14.X network and everything plays well
