VPN and DNS issues on Windows Domain

Ok so I have a working HDA (5.1) on Fedora 12.

Now if I connect using the VPN from work (windows 7 ent on a windows 2008 domain) I can access the HDA without issue however the local window 7 pc then has issues accessing local domain resources as the DNS has been changed to the HDA box.

What is the best way around this without having to disconnect when I want to access local resources.

Cheers

Not sure I follow. Is your hda the sole DHCP/DNS provider for your network?

Ok so I am at work logged into a windows 7 workstation. Logged into a 2008 AD Domain.

I then connect to the HDA using the HDAConnect client. I can now access the HDA at home via the work lan.

However when i try to access some LAN resorces I can no longer find them. So for instance we have a helpdesk system that is accessed via http://servicedesk
but that now wont work. I tried using the FQDN and that seemed to work for a couple of things but not for others.

So I did an nslookup and it lists the HDA as my default DNS server which would obvously explain why it cant locate local domain based resources.

Ok, I understand now. Is it possible that your work IP range and the HDA IP range are the same (i.e. 192.168.x.x)? Also, I am no expert, but maybe you cannot be connected to both and access sites on each at the same time. I read something in the wiki about accessing HDA via VPN using a connection on the same IP range did not work.

Seems like a conflict and there may be a way around it, but I don't have the experience to figure that out. Sorry, hoping I could help.

No our main lan is a 10.x.x.x class A range so that shouldn't be causing a problem. Its not a major issue as I can just disconnect and reconnect or just use IP's instead of DNS names.

Would be interested to hear the solution should you sort it out.
