problems with VPN

Postby mfacer » Mon Nov 15, 2010 6:48 am

Hi guys,

I have had Amahi running for a while now, but today I decided to try the remote VPN feature.
I have set up the router and in my amahi login (control panel) it says it's active (green light).

I have downloaded the amahi VPN client (using Win XP)
Yet, when I try to connect, I get a connection reset by peer error. Here's the output

Code: Select all

Mon Nov 15 13:38:07 2010 OpenVPN 2.1_rc15 i686-pc-mingw32 [SSL] [LZO2] [PKCS11] built on Nov 19 2008 Mon Nov 15 13:38:07 2010 WARNING: No server certificate verification method has been enabled. I can see the error messages at the first couple of lines - but I thought this was meant to work out of the box, so I have not set anything else up?

I can confirm that the IP address I am currently on is not the same as my home network I am on.

any ideas??

Have you forwarded port 1194 UDP on your router according to the wiki? That is a very basic step that must be done.

Yep.. UDP service added and firewall rule to forward traffic on that to my 192.168.0.99 amahi machine. In the amahi.org control panel, I do the VPN check and it says it's active.

hi,

check basic network connectivity on the ports:

ping <user>.yourhda.com from outside your network.
telnet <user>.yourhda.com 1194 from inside and outside your network. working? try both names and ip addresses.
