I'm back home now, so I'm not on the windows machine at work. I would certainly be open to getting help on the IRC channel. I found the logs but the forum won't allow me to attach them, it sez the extension is not allowed

sending the vpn logs in a public forum is not ideal.

you can compress the file with gzip and i think the forums will allow something ending in .gz
(i looked into how to allow .txt ... but i cannot find it)

come by the irc any time!

you can install a firefox add-on called chatzilla
It's just an IRC client, or if you have Pidgin installed on your fedora box you can use that to connect to the IRC.
Web-based IRC usually relies on either Flash or Java.

Ok, in my continuing quest for VPN love. I have figured out that capitalization is critical when logging on. I now believe that I have connected with my HDA but I have one little problem. I am getting an error that sez "write UDPv4: No Route to Host (WSAEHOSTUNREACH) (code=10065)". I have made sure that the correct udp port is open. Googling this error message is getting my know where. Can any of the vpn guru's out there give me a hand? I have attached the HDA Connect log file that show the error.

looks like you are doing the right thing but somehow the VPN client does not either resolve or reach the dyndns associated to your HDA.

also, you are in XP pro, you said, so the existing client should work (it has issues with vista with the newest vista updates).

two ideas:
  • uninstall and reinstall the vpn client
  • install the (much newer) client from openvpn.net. the drawback is that you have to configure it "by hand" like the linux and mac clients. make sure you download the newer one (OpenVPN 2.1_rc15 -- released on 2008.11.19).
