Is your router also set up as a firewall?
Port forwarding does not open a hole in the firewall, it only redirects a packet once it has come through the firewall.
On my home router, I had to set up a firewall 'rule' to indicate that any packets from the internet reqesting access on a particular port were to be allowed through. Then the port forwarding takes that packet and directs it towards a specific machine within the local network (i.e., your Amahi server)

Re: Port forwarded and installed HDAConnect but not working
well I hit another wall....I verified that my router does not have firewall. at least not the one where I can have rules setup to allow PORT 1194 to be open. I am frustrated at this point and thinking about buying new router if anyone thinks my issue is related to Router. Please advise. Thanks a lot for your time in advance.

I am having same exact problems on a Linksys WRT120N. No firewall turned on and port forwarded to 1194. Amahi.org control panel still can not see Amahi Server.

how can a port be forwarded if there is no firewall?
you have to describe a bit more what's going on.
does the HDA see anything in the logs? ... /var/log/messages immediately after (or during) trying to connect with a client!
that will tell you if there is connectivity.
