X was fine but now it won't start

When I first installed HDA in late february, X (or xorg or whatever it's called) worked perfectly, and I managed to get VCN to work. However, between Feb 25th and March 11th, something happened, and now X will not start. The Xorg log file ends with:

Code: Select all

(II) intel(0): Integrated Graphics Chipset: Intel(R) Pineview G (--) intel(0): Chipset: "Pineview G" (II) intel(0): Output VGA1 has no monitor section (II) intel(0): EDID for output VGA1 (II) intel(0): Output VGA1 disconnected (WW) intel(0): No outputs definitely connected, trying again... (II) intel(0): Output VGA1 disconnected (WW) intel(0): Unable to find initial modes (==) intel(0): video overlay key set to 0x101fe (EE) intel(0): No modes. (II) UnloadModule: "intel" (EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration. Fatal server error: no screens found
I assume its lookng for modes from a config file - in this platform where would that file be? Might an update have changed something?

Thanks

the configuration files for xorg are at: /etc/X11/

however, are you asking for the xorg proper for the console, or the x server that vnc runs?

if you are asking about the configuration settings for the vnc one i am not sure where they are.
