Cant see or access my files through vpn

hi very new to all this having problems getting vpn to work, Have managed to get vpn to connect to hda via hdaconnect3 green light shows that im connected, can access hda through //hda in my browser and get login screen, sign in fine and can access setup browser, but i cant see or access my files on hda either through browser or windows
also it shows in my network conection that there is no internet accsess while conected on the hda does this affect anything?

Have you tried the troubleshooters in the wiki? Also, is there a firewall in place where you are connected?

Also, I presume you know that VPN is only needed when you are outside your home network.

yes have tried going through troubleshooter but no luck, have tried disabling both windows firewall and the firewall on my router.

Yes i am aware i only need vpn when outside the home network

Have you checked the VPN status for your HDA on amahi.org? If it does not show as working there, we will know where to look.

Its showing as active on Amahi.org, everyhting seems to b workin as it should hadconnect 3 connects fine i can access //hda setup through vpn jst cant access any files

Really strange. Have you checked the file permissions on the shares?

Actually I am having the same problem.
My computer at work connects to VPN OK trough HDA Connect 3. My control pannel shows VPN connection is ready. Everything fine but I have no access to shares....

But I think it is related to DNS, as I have at home, both my router and HDA acting as DNS. And also, the windows workgroup in my work is not the same as in my home network. I guess I have to start solving that first....

Yes that is most likely your problem. Can only have 1 DHCP and DNS server active with Amahi. If you mix, you will have problems. Clients get confused on which one to use and will not consistently use the same one every time.
