how do i ensure that ALL my traffic is routed via VPN?

When I connect to my HDA remotely on my win7 laptop through an unsecure wireless access point, I'd like to be able to VPN into my HDA using HDA-Connect, then route all traffic over the VPN tunnel.

Currently, I can establish a VPN connection, TTY and VNC both work using local alias, I can access my SMB shares. However, when i say "what is my IP" address, it reports the external IP of the unsecure network and not my home internet connection.

Folks on the Amahi chat said it should have reported back my home IP. Ideas?
