CLOSED: phpMyAdmin App: Get an "Access denied for user 'phpmyadmin'@'localhost'" after changing password

Postby teleski » Fri Apr 10, 2020 2:03 am

I installed the phpMyAdmin app and I changed the password as the first step. I am now getting this message at the bottom of the screen:
  • mysqli::real_connect(): (HY000/1045): Access denied for user 'phpmyadmin'@'localhost' (using password: YES)
According this https://tehnoblog.org/phpmyadmin-error- ... on-failed/ site, this occurs when one changes the password and suggests to change the /etc/phpmyadmin/config-db.php file, but the phpmyadmin files don't exit in that location.

Also I have installed php Address Book, and I don't see its database with phpMyAdmin.

Which user did you log in as for the app? Also, don't recommend you change the root password or it could break your HDA.

The file you need is located in /var/hda/web-apps/phpmyadmin/html directory.

Don't recommend you follow tutorials on the internet for making modifications. Best to consult the Amahi WIki as it's specific to Amahi.

I logged in as admin. Is admin consider root? If so then doesn't that present security risk if I don't change the password?

Not sure how you logged in as admin.

The app credentials are phpmyadmin for user and password. That’s clearly displayed on the app install screen in the dashboard.

What version of Fedora and Amahi are you using?

Did you do some manual modification to your HDA?

I have installed the piwigo plugin. I would except to see its database with phpMyAdmin. Or is it somewhere else?

No problem. Logging in using the database root account (root/hda) is best in order to see all databases.

The app you mention does have a database.

Since the original issue is resolved, marking this thread as closed.
