Multicraft Update

Postby gdukin » Mon Sep 10, 2018 9:42 am

So, after having to re-install my server (HDD died), I'm trying to re-install Multicraft to run a Minecraft server.

Unfortunately, I'm running into some roadblocks:

The current app in the app store is running Multicraft 1.8.2, and Multicraft itself has now upgraded to version 2.2.1. This is an issue, because the old version will no longer download the .jar files needed to run the newest version of Minecraft.

I submitted a bug report over 2 years ago asking for the app to be updated (https://bugs.amahi.org/issues/1982), but it has had no activity.

I tried following the instructions to upgrade in the Wiki (https://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Multic ... sion_2.0.1), unfortunately, it runs into issues with file ownership and permissions.

I recall following the steps noted in the troubleshooting section of the Multicraft site (https://www.multicraft.org/site/docs/troubleshooting#21, if it doesn't work, the tip is under "The log shows 'Failed to initialize server' "). I think this is what I did last time when I upgraded to make everything work, but I can't recall exactly. I believe I also needed to set some file permissions properly (see the last post in this thread: https://www.spigotmc.org/threads/solved ... ns.167611/). However, now I can't seem to get it to work.

I'd love it if the app could be updated to a version that actually works with the current version of Minecraft. Baring that, any suggestions on how I can set my permissions correctly

As is my typical, I kept tinkering at it, and found the fix is the following:

Just need to make it so multicraft does NOT make a user for each server, but just uses the one user (Multicraft). Second, need to reset permissions to get into the server files to pull back the correct world files, but then need to reset them again before it will run.
