Disk Wizard and RAID

Postby rdagijones » Mon Oct 26, 2015 8:02 pm

Is there a way to get Amahi 8 Disk Wizard to see RAIDs? All it lists is the two drives that I have in a RAID 1 separately. I am looking to establish a RAID 10 for my storage drives. I can just use Disk Wizard to see usages and ignore all the other features but it would be nice to see what it could do.

Maybe but unsure what app modifications would be needed. Recommend you submit a feature request via the bug tracker.

BTW most Amahi users do not use RAID, so that may dictate if this feature is considered or if it's doable. I don't believe we provide support for RAID with Amahi either.

On http://www.amahi.org/apps/greyhole-ui, under What Greyhole isn't it says:
A replacement for RAID 1: If one hard drive disappears from the pool, it might take some time for Greyhole to make those files re-appear on your shares. Do not use Greyhole on systems where it's critical for files to be available all the time
Reading up on Greyhole, and finding the above consideration, I decided to go with RAID 1. I cannot afford to lose (or wait days to see again) most of the data that I have on my server and the other servers that I maintain. With RAID 1 I can recover a failed drive in 6 hours. How long does Greyhole take?

Depends on a lot variables, such as amount of files, drive speed, hardware, etc.
