Recommend you check out the wiki.
https://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Crashplan

There is mention the bests place to locate the backups.

Thanks

I looked there first.

And no it doesn't; however, looking in my HDA and seeing that Share location is /var/hda/files/crashplan, perhaps the default and best location. Now I need to find it.

Crashplan makes very regular writes/reads to the directory it's configured to store backups in. As such, it's best not to point the target directory with in a Greyhole pool, as the number of operations builds beyond a functional level. The backup folder is best placed on a non-pooled disk, or of another type of managed volume or filesystem, such as BTRFS, ZFS, an LVM volume, RAID array, etc.
From the wiki. While it does not give a specific location, it does tell you where it's best to put the folder.
