SOLVED: miniDLNA not caching new media

Postby hemington1 » Wed Mar 19, 2014 1:38 am

I have a new install of 7.1 and DLNA. I have been adding media to my library over the last few months with no issues, the cache is updating and I can "see" the media on DLNA players. However, since the weekend, the cache has not been updating. I can browse to the folders and files via a file manager on a computer, but not on a player.
This was an annoying problem with 6 on Ubuntu, I would have to delete the cache file everytime I added media and restart the server. Is there a workaround/solution for 7.1?

May be the same issue. Have you installed OS updates? There was a new minidlna package release recently. Not sure if this is something we can correct, but recommend you file a bug report if still having issues.

Thanks Big. My kids all have iOS devices, so I switched to the iOS App, which is superb. Works flawlessly. That just leaves the PS3 to sort out (Twonky). I will try updating the DLNA app and see how I go. :D

I re-installed DLNA to the latest version.
My app page tells me it's installed, but I now get this:

[root@localhost ~]# systemctl status minidlna.service
minidlna.service\xe2\x80\x8b.service
Loaded: error (Reason: No such file or directory)
Active: inactive (dead)

I've tried rebooting the server a few times and re-installing DLNA with the above result.
Any ideas?

Try this as root user:

Code: Select all

systemctl reload-or-restart minidlna.service
I didn't mean you needed to uninstall and reinstall specifically. You have done a yum update and it would have gotten picked up.

Thanks Big.
code did nothing. I uninstalled DLNA, restarted the server, did a first time OS update. I reinstalled DLNA, configured the conf file to point to the relevant directories, and all is working as it should. So maybe it just needed an OS update.
I did notice your post re the plexmedia/DLNA conflict issue, but I don't have plex installed on my server, so this wasn't the initial issue for me.
Thanks for taking the time to reply to my queries.
