SOLVED: just bought an app but where is it?

Postby cpeddie » Sat Mar 08, 2014 12:09 am

Ok, I just purchased $5.00 of credit so I could buy and 1 click install webmin. Absolutely no problem taking my money, but when I clicked on purchase for the app, it just flashed a quick screen of a 1 click install notice, then nothing. Did take $4.99 out of my amahi credit though. Have no idea how to download the app and install it. What gives? Is the app store really a scam store?

The app will appear in the available apps tab on your HDA.

Ok, found the app and installed it. But now when I try and run it I get the following error:

=======
The website at http://webmin/ seems to be unavailable. The precise error was:

Cannot connect to destination (webmin)

It could be temporarily switched off or moved to a new address. Don't forget to check that your internet connection is working correctly.

=====

I've rebooted the server and still get the same error. I've both clicked on the webmin link on the dashboard, and typed in the url directly to the browser. Is there something else I need to set up?

Thanks.....

Uses SSL so use https. Should have automatically redirected from dashboard link to https://webmin:10000.

Still no joy. Log into dashboard no problem, when I click on link for webmin it does automatically switch to https. But now error from firefox is:
-------------
Unable to connect

Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at webmin.peddie.net:10000.

The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.
--------------

When I ssh into the server from a terminal window as well, I have to use the IP address. Trying to ssh to 'peddie-server' it can't resolve the hostname, and trying x@peddie-server.net just times out. Is there something that messed up with the DNS setup?

Thanks,
Craig

Probably. Run the network troubleshooter. I believe you can access it from docs.amahi.net.

I have run the network troubleshooter (twice) and both times it passed with flying colors. Downloaded the app Gallery 2, and it works fine. Can fire it up both via VNC logged onto the hda, and a browser from another computer on the home network. Seems to be something specific to webmin (at least with these 2 apps). I came across an older post that referred to a bug and talked about deleting some jnl files, but the bug posting is gone so I'm not sure what files it was referring to.

Is there something we need to do to open up ports on the ubuntu server?

Please check /var/log/amahi-app-installer.log for errors. There is no ports which need to be opened. If this continues to be an issue, please submit a bug report.
https://bugs.amahi.org

We will have to take a look and get back with you.

Is there a manual way to fix and then reinstall?

Thanks,

The fact that the install failed is the issue obviously. You need to uninstall, then reinstall after a reboot. That should correct the problem.

EDIT: The problem may be Ubuntu related. We are not updating apps or adding any features to Amahi 6 on Ubuntu. I will have to check the source download to see if it got moved. That is likely what happened as Amahi 7 has a newer version.
