The installation of web apps was not successful on my system in the way that the app only shows up in the webapp overview and not in the installed overview. I pasted the amahi-app-installer.log at the end of my post. I think that the following line is causing the problems because of my slow internet connection:
"/var/hda/platform/html/lib/system-utils.rb:66:in `run_script': run_script had to KILL this script. it was taking too long. sorry. (RuntimeError)"

On my harddisk are now folders named:
/var/hda/web-apps/subsonic/
/var/hda/web-apps/subsonic1/
/var/hda/web-apps/webmin/

The webmin app is working and for subsonic I get the "HTTP ERROR: 503", but that is another problem.

I want to uninstall these apps and remove the folders. This forum pointed me to a thread in which the manual uninstallation of apps is described, but I don’t understand how to use the "install-app" script for this task. Can somenone explain me how to use the script or is there another way to remove these apps?

Recommend you uninstall the problem apps from the dashboard. Then go to /var/hda/web-apps directory and manually remove the folders if any are left behind for those apps. If they are not reflected in the apps->installed tab, just remove the directories.

Once done, reboot and try reinstall. Never try to install an app more than once without checking the /var/hda/web-apps folder. If it already exists, a second install will further complicate the problem. It is rare this happens, but it does sometimes.

I tried what you said in your post but afterwards the dashboard is not reachable anymore. The system is powered on and working. I can lock in with putty and he resolves DNS adresses. Does someone has a hint how to get the dashboard back?

Try this page on platform troubleshooting.

I know it's not a lot, and you have been looking at logs already ... this is a new log to look at for errors.

It's possible that /etc/http/conf.d/10*.conf files are wedging the apache configuration.

I tried the command from your link and get the following output:

After this command the link is pointing to problems with the apache webserver, so I tried to restart the apache (pasted in the end of this post). Two warnings for two webapps I installed apaired. My linux skills are not good enough to solve that problem on my own. Thanks in advance for your help.

I should mention, that between my first and second post, I reinstalled ubuntu and amahi. My last dashboard use, was to install three Apps: Monitorix, Linfo and Subsonic. While doing that subsonic leads to an app not apearing in the installed app tab (like in my first amahi installation) and I removed the directory as described in the second post. Monitorix seems to be installed fine regarding to the dashboard output.

I am having this same issue and the instructions above are not working. I was in testing for this app so am wondering if there is an enviroment variable that needs to be changed back for me with this app. I have purchased the app and was able to install on an alterate instance without issue. Here is where I am at:

*Subsonic still showing in web-app list
*removed all folders pertaining to subsonic
*rebooted
*install never completes

Any help would be appreciated.

In order for uninstall to work, the folder /var/hda/web-apps/subsonic directory must exist. It should be owned by apache:users.

You cannot manually remove folders without using the dashboard uninstall or it will break things.

OK back up a little more. I went to use subsonic and it was not loading. I asked in chat if anything was going on with it and I did not get a reply. I removed the app from the dashboard and it uninstalled at that time. I then tried to re-install and noticted it was now a paid app so I purchased it and did an install again but it gave me the same results on http://subsonic page. I asked in chat and they suggested removing the folders and doing the reboot as suggested in the on of the formum posts. That brings me to now. I did not go and try to remove folders initally and am trying to get it back up and running.

Sometimes the advice you receive in IRC chat is not the best. Sorry you received bad instructions. Most Amahi apps have their own directory and the uninstaller relies on that. If you just put it back and then try removing the app via the dashboard, it should uninstall.

Now to get it working, that may take some additional steps. You will need to check that the core of the app was uninstalled.

Thanks for the response. I did add the folder and rebooted but the dashboard still sees it as available to install. I have pasted the log from the last attempt to install again. I also was able to uninstall the subsonic core with yum.
