Crashplan not working since reinstall

I've been running Crashplan for some time (since Amahi 5/Fedora 12 and now on Amahi 6/Fedora 14) and it has worked well for me. Yesterday, however, I decided to reinstall it as I couldn't back up an external computer.
After paying for the app (as an early user it was initially free) I installed it but it now doesn't work. Any computer trying to back up to the server receives the message "Waiting for connection" in the Desktop. On trying to launch CrashPlanDesktop on the server nothing happens.
If I look in the error logs I find in ui_output.log the following:
Error occurred during initialization of VM
java/lang/ClassNotFoundException: error in opening JAR file <Permission denied> /usr/local/crashplan/jre/lib/rt.jar
and in engine_output.log I find:
Error occurred during initialization of VM
java/lang/ClassNotFoundException: error in opening JAR file /usr/local/crashplan/jre/lib/rt.jar
I have tried changing permissions on rt.jar and reinstalling but nothing changes.
Any suggestions gratefully received as I am now without a backup regime.

Sorry for any inconvenience. What were the permissions on the JAR file? Did you check the app install log for errors?
We will have to investigate this one more to determine the problem. We may need your help with troubleshooting as well.

Thanks for your swift reply.
The file permissions were 600.
There are no error messages in the app install log - the following is shown for every time I tried installing the app:
======= app install begin @ Mon Jul 09 05:31:38 +0100 2012 ==========
Installing app id sp2uf8jdkx under /var/hda/platform/html ENV=production
NOTE: file /tmp/amahi-download-cache/6f6adc7e52977722de025540c38d398713c086e0 picked up from cache.
App: CrashPlan installed
======= app install end @ Mon Jul 09 05:31:59 +0100 2012 ==========

Do a check of services in the /etc/init.d folder to see if one exists at all. I will check when I get a chance later today.
This is Fedora 14, right?

It is Fedora 14.
I've now downloaded and installed from the Crashplan website and this seems to be working fine. Obviously the server does not show up on the dashboard but since this always showed as stopped anyway I can live with this.
If others have had this problem with the oneclick install then I'm happy to uninstall and reinstall via the dashboard to help debug, otherwise I'm OK for now.

Did you download the .gz file and install? We had it packaged as an RPM for Fedora and DEB for Ubuntu. Was thinking maybe we should switch to the .gz file instead.
I presume it's a simple install as it depicts in the wiki.

We have moved the app back to BETA until the issues can be resolved.

I believe we have sorted out the issue. Hope to have it moved back live in the next day or so.

It was the .tgz file from the CrashPlan website.
