How do I "purchase" free apps like Amahi Sync?

I realize this is probably a pretty basic question, but I just got my server working yesterday and was looking to try out a free app to see how that whole process works. When I go to the app pages and click on a free app (https://www.amahi.org/apps/amahi-sync), I don't see any download or purchase link at all. I do see a purchase button on paid apps, but I wanted to try a free one first.

Oh Amahi experts, what am I missing? :)

Thanks in advance.

Not sure Amahi Sync is a free app. You install apps from the Dashboard on your HDA, i.e. http://hda. Apps listed there are free unless you have purchased some.

The web site is only used for purchasing apps that have convenience fees. You have to be logged into the web site to see the cost and purchase of course. Then once you have bought the app, refresh your HDA Available Apps tab and it will show up.

Thanks for your reply! Ok, so regardless of whether Amahi Sync is free or not (I assume there would be a cost for Amazon S3, at the least), wouldn't I have to download it's packages onto the server? I don't see any indication on that page of how to enable it, purchased or not.

Also, are the apps listed in the apps tab on the dashboard the only free apps available for Amahi? How does that list get updated? Sorry for all the N00B questions.

Yes, only apps that are in the Dashboard on your HDA are free. There are no others available at the moment. Once you purchase an app, it will show up there as well.

As for Amahi-Sync, there is nothing else needed. It is all handled by Amahi servers. You install and put files in the Public share folder it creates. They are automatically synced to the Amahi cloud.

Perfect, thanks for your help. I found Amahi sync in the list after all. The thing that confused me is that under the apps tab, it says 1. Get Apps 2. Install here. I didn't realize that the free apps were already "got". Should have skipped right to step 2. :)

Thanks again,

No problem. Yes we need to do a better job of showing how to use Amahi. One day we hope to have a nice user manual.
