Apps stay in Beta far too long

There's is stuff marked "Beta" that has been marked that way since I set up my first HDA in 2009.

If they install, then make them public!

You need a firm time limit for "Beta" apps.

Limit "support" to installation issues only, send people to the respective application sites for actual application support.

Enough foot dragging.

Want to make Amahi more popular? Release the darn apps already!

I would have to agree on that , The main apps I use sabnzbd,sickbeard and couchpotato are all in the "beta" stage. I understand by having apps in beta people are more likely to sign up for for the pro and ninja plans to gain access, but for people like me who have a Sugarsync and a google docs (google docs app would be good)paid accounts its just not viable to sign up for the paid plans Amahi offer.

So I had to install the apps manually and added the proxypass settings in apache so I can access them via a host name but saying that I would of preferred to of just paid for them.

I seriously hope that's not their plan.

Check out their facebook wall. I added a post on this subject. Maybe if they get enough other comments/likes/etc they'll take the hint.

I'm getting pretty fed up with the glacial pace of things since they got greedy. This last upgrade was really poorly executed in my opinion. I won't be doing any more upgrades unless they are do-or-die.

First of all I would like to say that we appreciate your feedback and understand your frustration.

Now, let me give you some background on Amahi development. For those who may not know, the Amahi Core Team is a quite small team and all volunteer. We do not get paid to do the work. We all work hard to keep things moving forward, but we all have full time jobs and families to consider. We do our best to provide a viable home server solution that is for the most part, FREE.

Why you indicate we have gotten greedy, I beg to differ. You surely must realize the cost involved in hosting such a large project and that is what the convenience cost augments. The development of Amahi has and continues to be funded by cpg, with help from donations, app convenience fees, and the premium plans. All in all, he has been able to keep things going quite well in my opinion considering the obstacles. This is no small feat!

We are working to get the App Tester program back online, which is what drives apps moving from beta to live. Unfortunately, it is taking longer than we anticipated. It has been down for quite some time and that is what has slowed the release of applications, not the fact that we want more money. It is crucial that we have the apps thoroughly tested and bugs worked out so its painless for users to install and use. Just because an app installs and works fine for you does not mean it will for everyone, hence the need for testing.

So I hope you can understand why it takes time for things to move forward. If you would like to assist, we can always use help answering posts in the forums, keeping the wiki updated, feedback on beta apps that you have tried, etc.
