can't get into Gallery 3

Postby dumbledore » Fri Sep 23, 2011 3:32 pm

I installed Gallery 3. On first access it asks for a username and password (apparently to the MySQL database). I've tried all combinations of root, admin and <user> that I have on the machine with all known passwords including "admin" "root", "password" and leaving it blank. All tell me that I don't have permissions to the database.

I also went to webmin and attempted to change the password for MySQL and it wouldn't accept any changes.

How can I config Gallery3?

When you install apps, pay close attention to the screen area after install is complete. If the app requires login credentials, it will be listed as initial user name and password. For most apps, the default is admin/admin.

This is not the MySQL use name and password, but specific to the app.

Turns out it was related to MySQL. I had to blank the MySQL user pwd in Webmin and then redirect Gallery3 to the database "Test" since MySQL still won't let me create new data base (permission denied). Now I'm in.

That is odd. Your MySQL setup must be hosed. The app creates a database called gallery3. Might consider reinstalling Amahi at some point as you will continue to have problems.

Also, keep in mind Webmin is for advanced users. If you are not careful, you can really mess up a system.
