Test version of DLNA - 0.92

Postby cpg » Wed Dec 22, 2010 5:59 am

Hi!

New test version of DLNA, pulling the latest upstream from minidlna, including a fix for supporting updating DB on symbolic links (i.e. works with media in Greyhole!), a fix for Samsung TVs like the Samsung UE40C6700 and other 2010 models:

- 64 bits: http://alpha.amahi.org/tmp/amahi-dlna-0.92-1.x86_64.rpm
- 32 bits: http://alpha.amahi.org/tmp/amahi-dlna-0.92-1.i686.rpm

There is also a little surprise in there :ugeek:

Bonus points to the first one to reveal the secret feature. ... Triple bonus points to the first one to show a picture of the new feature in action 8-)

Please report back here how it's working!

Cool ! Hope the samsung thumbnail/albumart issue will be fixed too.

Tried this on my sandbox, but the minidlna daemon exists directly after starting even with just a few media files. The minidlna logfile does show it's reading all shares, finds the testfiles, but no further error messages.

I am pretty new to Amahi so might have done a wrong install, but I tried several options to install the alpha package :
1. Installed over the existing prod package via "rpm -Uvh http://.... (doesn't work)
2. Uninstalled the existing prod package via dashboard & installed again as above. (doesn't work)

Any tips ? Other experiences ?

Tnx
Dieter

worked fine for me, I don't notice anything new though other than requiring a manual restart of the daemon.

I had the same exiting issue. I manually restarted it a couple of times and was able to get VLC to connect to it, but as soon as it received the (partial) index, the amahi-dlna daemon stopped responding.

There seemed to be a different organization of the index, though I may have just not noticed it before.

In the 'Browse Folders' portion, there should be another directory called 'TV Shows', but the dlna server not got to the point of indexing these, I guess. Another difference I noted with VLC, was that under the previous version, there seemed to be two indexes. One slightly delayed but contained the same content. Under 'Amahi', the exact same directory structure was listed twice under the previous version.

I installed the new rpms (x86) and my dlna server started failing. I ran it form the commandline in debug mode. It starts fine, then after scanning all my photo folders, seg faults. Then, when I restart it, it seg faults immediately. removing the files.db and restarting, allows it to go through the indexing again, but it seg fualts once more and the cycle repeats.

My guess is when the first seg fault happens it leave the database in a inconsistent state.

I uninstalled and reinstalled and upgraded again and got the same results.

Finally, I uninstalled and reinstalled but skipped the upgrade. It seems to run fine at 91.7 level

We think we have found the issue. New test packages are here:

http://alpha.amahi.org/tmp/amahi-dlna-0 ... x86_64.rpm
http://alpha.amahi.org/tmp/amahi-dlna-0.92.1-1.i686.rpm

please test and report back, preferably in the bug tracker at http://bugs.amahi.org/issues/show/702

Merry Xmas! ;-)
