PXE_KNIFE

Postby kaneco » Wed Oct 20, 2010 7:19 am

Hello all,

Regarding information on this page http://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/PXE_KNIFE, I have a question:

On the boot menu I only have option 2 chooses is the memtest and other ..... (don't remember the name).

It is possible to add more lines on the boot menu to put other distributions like Puppy Linux or damnsmalllinux.

If yes, what i have to do?

or can i use this http://www.thinstation.org/ site to make a compilation of distributions to boot from a pxe add to a menu.

If yes, what i have to do?

Best regards

Hello,

We have replaced PXEKnife with amahi-netboot. You can add certain distros to it. Take a look at upcoming apps on http://www.amahi.oerg and you will see several already packaged. They are in beta testing at the moment.

Puppy Linux didn't work for me. Damn Small Linux did work and is in beta testing. This can be a complicated process to install and find the right configuration to make them all work. I have found that many LiveCDs require a different setup using NFS.

I found a lot of guidance on the internet using Google as well.

Amahi-netboot is an RPM installed by the netboot apps. You can manually install it via CLI. The netboot apps are Clonezilla, Parted Magic, Redo Backup, GParted, xPUD, Damn Small Linux, and RIP Linux.

You won't have access to them unless you are a beta tester.
