sickbeard Stopped working. cannot remove or reinstall

Postby calmasacow » Sun Feb 23, 2014 7:39 pm

ok So I had this problem once last year. I'm on the ubuntu install btw as I rely on greyhole too heavily.

anyway last year sick beard randomly stopped working I could search and find show but it was like it's automated process stopped working. so I simply uninstalled from the apps panel and then reinstalled and then everything was back to normal and I went about my merry way.

Well the same thing happened about 2 months back. so I went to the apps panel and click and uninstalled sick beard.

However not when I try to re-install it it will simply sit at the "preparing to install" stage and never install. I have let it sit there overnight and it never completes.

the Amahi -app-installer.log shows:
/var/hda/platform/html/script/../app/models/app.rb:442:in `chdir': Permission denied - /var/hda/web-apps/sickbeard (Errno::EACC$
from /var/hda/platform/html/script/../app/models/app.rb:442:in `install_webapp'
from /var/hda/platform/html/script/../app/models/app.rb:205:in `install_bg'
from /var/hda/platform/html/script/install-app:96:in `install_or_uninstall'
from /var/hda/platform/html/script/install-app:117:in `main'
from /var/hda/platform/html/script/install-app:129
======= app install begin @ Sun Feb 23 20:33:16 -0600 2014 ==========
Installing app id drez4hbslo under /var/hda/platform/html ENV=production
NOTE: file /tmp/amahi-download-cache/bbab6054c0c03a7004a502c0487ef9ae535c7847 picked up from cache.

I also cannot remove sickbeards folder manually either. I was thinking perhaps this would allow it to install from scratch but I can't get rid of it even when I sudo

please advise,,

If you cannot remove the /var/hda/web-apps/sickbeard directory using sudo, try it as root.

Code: Select all

sudo su -
Then once removed, before trying to reinstall recommend you reboot.

ok Thanx that helped me remove all of the bad installer and clean it out but I still can't get it to install.
It says it is downloading and then unpacking and all that jazz then it just does the same thing.

Says "preparing to install" with the little thing going in a circle.

This is driving me mad and making my wife nuts. She is climbing the walls wanting this working.

Please anyone with any ideas that can bring peace back to my home would greatly be appreciated.

Thanx in advance,

Pleas file a bug report at https://bugs.amahi.org. We will take a look at the app soon.

BTW, if you still have the app listed as installed after you removed the directory then you will need to do some clean up before installing again.

If not, recommend you uninstall, then check /var/hda/web-apps to ensure there are no sickbeard directories left behind.

You might also want to clean out the download cache in case there is a corrupt file there.

Code: Select all

sudo rm -rf /tmp/amahi-download/*
I have installed it on an Ubuntu 64-bit test box and worked fine. I am speculating you might have gotten caught in a state where it's installed and not installed which is very rare. It often has to do with the browser cache.

I am willing to help get this working for you, but would appreciate if you file a bug report so we can track it.
