Transmission Web Password

Postby atupeck » Sat Nov 27, 2010 12:14 pm

Good Afternoon All,

I have Transmission 1.93 installed on my HDA box. I have also made the Transmission web interface accessible via the internet by Adding a new ServerAlias to the /etc/httpd/conf.d/10xx-transmission.conf file, to transmission.(my webaddress).net. When doing so, I can access the transmission web interface easily, by goign to transmission.mywebaddress.net, however I would like a password on it so not anyone can just get in there add torents and remove torrents. I went into the settings.json(/var/lib/transmission/.config/transmission-daemon) to change the values to true and input my password, however when I reload the amahi-transmission service, the file is rewritten. I need to reload the service for the changes to take effect...And when they do, it gets rewritten. Is there another path for the settings.json file that does not get rewritten? Pretty pretty please help?? :)

I stopped transmission using "service amahi-transmission stop"

then edited
/var/lib/transmission/.config/transmission-daemon/settings.json
and
/var/lib/transmission/.config/transmission/settings.json

and then started transmission back again using "service amahi-transmission start". The settings stuck and seems to work for me.

I think you might have to stop the service, edit then start it back up instead of having the service running then editing then reloading.
