How to configure AmahiTunes? Music is on external HD.

Postby mystictoaster » Sun Feb 28, 2010 3:57 pm

I want AmahiTunes to point to a folder on an external hd instead of the default /var/hda/files/movies. I already have this changed on my hda's shares, I just need AmahiTunes to look there. Any suggestions?

by the way, I installed AmahiTunes manually, following the instructions in this post:
http://forums.amahi.org/viewtopic.php?f ... unes#p5747
You can still install AmahiTunes (though without the web user interface) by providing this yum install command:

Code:
yum -y install amahi-tunes

If you want to run it by hand, here is the default amahi configuration for AmahiTunes is:

Code:
web_root /usr/share/mt-daapd/admin-root
port 3689
admin_pw mt-daapd
db_dir /var/cache/mt-daapd
mp3_dir /var/hda/files/music
servername AmahiTunes
runas mt-daapd
extensions .mp3,.m4a,.m4p,.ogg,.flac
logfile /var/log/mt-daapd.log
rescan_interval 600
scan_type 1

So how do I change this configuration without the web app?

Okay, now I found the link to access the settings from a browser:

http://hda:3689/config.html

However, it won't let me edit any of the fields.

you can use this file to configure the amahitunes server:

Code: Select all

/etc/mt-daapd.conf
My HDA: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3570K CPU @ 3.40GHz on MSI board, 8GB RAM, 1TBx2+3TBx1

nice! I changed the location of the mp3 folder in this file and now my itunes is detecting my music library! Awesome. (It didn't happen immediately- I'm a total linux noob, so I didn't even know how to stop/restart amahitunes, but I guess it just worked itself out somehow.)

Problem solved.

If you dump a great number of files into the music folder it may take a while for the automatic rescan to see them all. You can force a database rebuild by removing the songs folder then restarting the server.
typical location of songs db.

Code: Select all

rm /var/cache/mt-daapd/songs.gdb
then restart the server.

Code: Select all

service mt-daapd restart
BTW Thanks to the dev team for re adding this to the apps list. Best service on my HDA.

7764 songs and adding..
