Update Plex

Postby nominek » Fri Jul 03, 2020 2:26 pm

Hi,

Been enjoying plex on amahi for a few years, but realised that i'm running Version: 1.12.0.4829 - the latest version of plex is 1.18.*

Ive been getting some access issues so I thought I'd upgrade. Only problem is it's been a few years since Ive done anything and I cant remember what to do! Is there a fool proof way of updating plex without damaging my current installation?

Thanks in advance :)

Check out the Plex Media Server wiki guidance.

BTW, if you are on Amahi 11 it will be updated automatically.

We do not update applications for older unsupported versions of Amahi.

The plex-media-server App is automatically updated when we push out new releases. If you check the link, you will see it's on 1.18.5.2309.

The version in the Dashboard Apps Installed tab will not change, only the actual application when you log in to it by design. You can uninstall and reinstall to see the latest version if desired.
Also I have a problem to login to Plex using my present account. What to do?
You will have to get with the Plex Media Server support. Amahi does not provide this type of support.

In future, please start a new Topic.

Sorry, Covid got me distracted - back to updating plex. The 'dashboard installed apps' says 'Plex Version 1.12.0.4829' - so I double checked Plex itself under Settings>general, says that its version Version 1.13.5.5332.

So I think something maybe wrong as its not automatically updating to 1:18... Can I uninstall it from the Amahi dashboard and reinstall 1.18.5.2309? Will it still see the database and work normally? Otherwise what else should I do? Many thanks!

You are using an unsupported version of Amahi. Amahi 11 on Fedora 27 is the lastest version.

As a result, we do not update apps for older versions of Amahi.

The only way to get the latest version is to update to Amahi 11 or you can try installing manually yourself.
